New Features!

posted by ArkahnX on February 06th, 2011

An in place editing system is now active on Novel <source>. Along with this release is a slightly modified version of the User Interface. Changes include:

  • New post editor
    • Click on titles to edit them
    • Click the save button to save and close the edit
    • Click the cancel button to close the editor (Changes will not be saved)
    • Click the delete button to delete that section from your novel permanently
  • User Interface improvements and changes
    • Delete button moved into the new editor
    • Chapter notes do not refresh until after save
  • New features
  • Bug fixes
    • Create/Edit/Delete works for Novel/Chapter/Scene/Plot

Delete feature explanation: Unlike create and edit, which applies to only one particular instance in your novel, the delete feature has the potential to delete your entire novel! Obviously with such a potentially dangerous feature I thought I should provide a detailed explanation (or try at least)

When you delete plot, that plot is not linked to anything below it, so it can be deleted safely.

However, if you wanted to delete a scene, this will delete all of the plot for that scene because we cant have plot without a scene to attach it to. Similarly for Chapters and Novels, which is why I recommend editing your scenes/chapters/novels instead of straight out deleting them.
